Exercises for Strong Feet

Static Pull Ups

Strengthen your ankle by pulling up your foot at the ankle and putting it down for a few minutes.

Arch Lifts

Sit on the chair with your feet flat on the floor. Then lift up your arch and draw the big toe towards your heel gently. Ensure your heel and big toe stay on the floor.

Toe Squeezes

Place small balls of clay or sponge between your toes and squeeze them hard against the resistance. Hold for 5 seconds straight and repeat 10 times.

Heel & Toe Raise

Raise your toes, hold for a few seconds and release. Do the same for your heel. Repeat for a few seconds and relax.

Tips for Choosing the Right Shoes

-Make a conscious effort to choose shoes with thick soles that absorb shock and enhance responsiveness with every stride. That way, you’ll have enough protection from concrete flooring and rough surfaces.

-Wearing high heels daily tenses the calf muscles, leading to foot fatigue. You can start with high heels in the morning but do switch to low heels during the day.

-Eliminate excess pressure on your feet by wearing insoles. They keep your feet secure and prevent postural strain.

-Your foot length changes during the day. That’s why you should buy shoes in the afternoon so that you have better chances of buying shoes that are roomy enough to accommodate slight swellings.

-Try stretching your shoes for best results. Fill sand in a sock and tuck it into the toebox area of the shoe. Then wrap it up with a damp towel and let it dry. After 24 hours, repeat the procedure.
